Clark County’s Small Acreage Program will offer a biochar burn demonstration and small acreage woodland tour led by Steve Thalberg. See a Ring of Fire Biochar Kiln, ideal for making biochar with small-diameter wood. Biochar is a type of charcoal that is burned at a specific temperature range and with limited oxygen. The burn begins at 8 a.m. June 29 at 21312 N.W. 17th Court, Ridgefield. When the burn is finished (between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.), enjoy a walking tour to learn about management practices for watershed and small acreage woodland health. Registration is $10 at biochar2024.brownpapertickets.com. Drop-ins are welcome for $15 cash or check. For more details, email terry.koper@wsu.edu or call 5 64-397-5729.
