Clark County Genealogical Society General Meeting & Presentation

The next meeting of the Clark County Genealogical Society is 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at 3205 N.E. 52nd St., Vancouver. There will be a volunteer appreciation ceremony at 7 p.m. followed at 7:15 p.m. by Sharon Barnes’s presentation about the Hatfield-McCoy feud. Barnes will share background on both families and their immigration to Virginia and Maryland. Then she’ll look at what became West Virginia with the outbreak of the Civil War and how the feud erupted. Sharon will introduce her personal connection, Detroit “Troy” Hatfield, the first husband of Barnes’s Great Aunt Cora, and their short life together.
