“A Focus on the Figure” group show at Art on the Boulevard in November; Artists’ Reception Nov. 1
November 1, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pmfree
Art on the Boulevard, a fine art gallery in the Vancouver Marketplace at 210 W. Evergreen Blvd., will open “A Focus on the Figure” on First Friday, Nov. 1, showing through Dec. 28. “A Focus on the Figure” is a group show featuring artists Emily Schultz-McNeil, Joanne Shellan, Carrie Vielle and Yer Za Vue. This show will give a unique perspective how individual artists interpret the human figure in their paintings.
All four are accomplished, award-winning artists. Schultz-McNeil is an oil painter who resides in Monmouth, Oregon where she has quickly made a name for herself with her figurative, plein air and still life paintings. Vielle teaches art and design at Washington State University in Pullman, Wash., and creates very unique mixed media figurative paintings using a combination of collage, acrylic paint and charcoal. Shellan is a full time oil painter from Kirkland, Wash., who has created a signature style with a focus on figures in cityscapes, interiors and landscapes. Yer Za Vue is an impressionist oil painter who worked for Disney Animation studios for many years and since 2006 has taught painting and animation locally in Portland, Oregon at the Art Institute, PNCA and other local workshops.
The First Friday reception from 5 to 9 p.m. Nov. 1 is open to the public at no charge and includes complimentary light refreshments and a chance to talk with the artists about their artwork.
Art on the Boulevard is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on First Fridays until 9 p.m. For more information, call the gallery at 360-750-4499 or visit www.artontheboulevard.org.
