Above and Below Art Studio Adult Art Classes

Above and Below Art Studio is offering summer adult classes with two nine-week sessions, Saturdays, May 18-July 13 or Wednesdays, May 22-July 17. Both classes run from 3 to 5:15 p.m. in the Marketplace atrium (near Java House and Art on the Boulevard) at 210 W. Evergreen Blvd., Vancouver. Students will enjoy group discussions, one-on-one guidance, brief lectures and critiques of the previous week’s projects. Attendees will paint, dive into early abstract art history, master the art and vocabulary of a robust critique and translate it into artistic growth and original style. Students will explore color theory, elements of composition, painting from still-life arrangements as well as real life, improvisation based on early 20th-century art history of abstraction and learn how to interpret concepts and ideas.
