Art at the Cave presents a free Artist Talk from 1-2 p.m. Sept. 20 about its current exhibit, “Soil, Culture and the Invisible Structures of Belonging,” showcasing the work of Eduardo Cruz, Zhanna Tsytsyn and the late Nho Ngyuen. Huehca Omeyocan, a group dedicated to the art, culture, music and dance of the Cem-Ahahuac, will also offer a performance. Led by Maria Elena Cortes Duran, dancers’ regalia display ancestral symbols and feathers. Eduardo Cruz Torres sets the rhythm with the Huehuetl drum, ceramic flutes, ocarinas, wind whistles, Nahuatl rattles, stones, seeds and bones. After the performance, attendees will hear from artists Cruz and Tsytsyn. Visitors can expect to see a range of artistic styles from painting, sculpture, masks, pyrography, etching and other reductive techniques applied to painting.
