April 11 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm$5 – $20
TreeSong Nature Awareness Center hosts “Birding by Ear — Migrant Birds” via Zoom from 5 to 6:30 p.m. April 11. Registration is required and closes at 4 p.m. on the day of class; register at www.treesongnatureawareness.org/online-birding-classes. The cost is $5 to $20 on a sliding scale. The link to each Zoom meeting will be sent out to attendees the day before the class.
Instructor Laura Whittemore brings her knowledge and passion for birding to an online class that will help identify birds by their distinct voices. Meet some of the widespread songbirds of the Northwest, hear their unique songs, and get tips on how to listen and how to retain birdsongs. Learning birdsong will take your nature awareness to a new level, sparking your curiosity and allowing you to find more birds and be more confident in your identification. You’ll practice around your home and supplement with online resources. This class focuses on spring migrants such as Swainson’s thrush, western tanager, black-headed grosbeak, and several warbler and flycatcher species.
