Cinema Unbound Drive-In Theater presented by Northwest Film Center and Portland Art Museum
October 3, 2020 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 8:00pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, repeating until October 10, 2020
The Northwest Film Center and Portland Art Museum are creatively collaborating during these socially distanced times to connect with audiences and bring innovative film and new media exhibitions to our community. Cinema Unbound Drive-In, running Aug. 6–Sept. 2020, welcomes guests to safely gather at Zidell Yards, 3030 S. Moody Ave., Portland, and experience radical and entertaining cinematic storytelling, changing the paradigm of what cinema can be, and perhaps will be in the future.
Last year, the Northwest Film Center (NWFC) hosted Cinema Unbound, redefining cinema beyond theater walls to include cinema, TV, media arts, audio and immersive storytelling. This year, NWFC is hosting the COVID-adapted drive-ins at Zidell Yards to safely bring the community together to celebrate and explore cinema, offering a healing night out with popcorn under the stars. Blending cinema classics, indie favorites, new releases, non-fiction, animation and art across genres and styles, the Cinema Unbound Drive-In speaks to the unboundedness of where we’re headed next.
Meet storytellers whose narratives spring from a wide variety of backgrounds. Some are first features, some are big-budget flix from those with storied creative careers. Some push boundaries in a future-forward way, and some just make us flat-out laugh and take us back to our youth. Some were made right here in the Northwest and others hail from New York, Hollywood and representative communities everywhere.
