Clark County Historical Museum and 54°40′ Brewing Team Up for Beer Release

September 2 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

free

Clark County Historical Museum and 54°40′ Brewing are pleased to announce a can release event to commemorate the 51st anniversary of the Sky River Rock Festival at CCHM’s Speaker Series presentation on Thursday, Sept. 2, with “Sky River Festival 1970.” This free event will occur at 54°40′ Brewing in Washougal (3801 S Truman St. #1) and begin at 7 p.m. Admission is free and beer and food are available to buy.

In this presentation and can release, the museum’s executive director, Brad Richardson, will reflect on the history of the Sky River Festival – from local resistance to the festival, to how it illustrates generational and regional divides in Washington State in the twilight years of the hippie era.

“Sky River III was one of the longest in duration and heaviest attended of the Northwest music festivals of this era. It drew artists and attendees from around the world,” Richardson said. “Like its East Coast sister festival, Woodstock, Sky River was a chance for people from all walks of life to gather peacefully and participate in the free flowing exchange of ideas on everything from the Vietnam War and gender beliefs to women’s rights and Black power.”

A portion of the proceeds from can sales will go to Two Rivers Heritage Museum in Washougal. For more information, contact the museum at 360-993-5679 or outreach@cchmuseum.org.
