Columbia Dance will present a historically inspired “Nutcracker” at 1 and 5 p.m. Dec. 20 and 21. This one-of-a-kind production includes fur trappers, wapato plants and covered wagons as Fort Vancouver history is woven into this classic ballet. Hudson’s Bay Company Chief Factor John McLoughlin brings a fur trapper to a Christmas Eve Party. His tales capture the imagination of young Cecilia Douglas and inspire her dreams: beavers, shipwrecked castaways and salmon. Columbia Dance collaborated with historians, local tribes and Fort Vancouver staff to create a whimsical, family-friendly story steeped in history. Adult tickets are $27; seniors and youth are $22.
