First Saturdays in Ridgefield: Arts Quarter Block Party

Join Ridgefield’s Arts Quarter Block Party during the month of March. Celebrate Youth Arts Month with online activities, take home activity bags, and an Arts Quarter scavenger hunt. Youth Arts Month represents a partnership between Ridgefield School District and the Ridgefield Art Association encouraging young people to take part in artistic endeavors including literary, visual, musical, and performing arts. Here are some ways to participate:
Activity bags will be available for no-contact pick up at Ridgefield City Hall on Friday, March 5, starting at 3 p.m. The bags will remain available while supplies last.
Complete the 2021 Downtown Art Scavenger Hunt! Pick up a Scavenger Hunt at City Hall or download and print one here. Complete your Scavenger Hunt over the weekend and drop off your completed hunt in the payment drop box at City Hall (no-contact). There will be honor system completion prizes to pick up when you submit and all completed Scavenger Hunts will be entered in a raffle for a grand prize, an art kit in a wooden case.
Start March 6 with the second The Ridge Color Run, a two-mile virtual run anywhere you choose. Register and pay online ($25 per person) at https://forms.gle/9MRQ51LHJfNp757J6 . Drive up packet pickup is from 4 to 6 p.m. March 5 at 3215 S. Hillhurst Rd.
Take an online crochet class from Carol Tocco, who will teach students how to chain and single crochet stitch in a recorded video you can pause, rewind and access at any time. This beginner class will get you started with basic crochet skills and you will make a dishcloth. We will supply the hook and yarn required for the project, and send you the class for March 6. Supply kit pickup will be on Wednesday, March 3, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Overlook Park. Masks are required for pickup. Tickets are $12 and include yarn, a crochet hook, and crochet needle (tapestry needle). All proceeds will go to the Ridgefield Gleaners. Supply kits are limited; reserve on Eventbrite.
Make a clay monster with Ridgefield artist Patricia Thompson. Participants will be invited to a live Zoom meeting for the class. All supplies will be provided for this Zoom art class. Supply kits will be available for pickup on Wednesday, March 3, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Overlook Park. Tickets are $15 and include all materials for the project. Register on Eventbrite.
Join a Paint and Sip Zoom class at 3 p.m. March 6. Paint along with Ridgefield artist Maureen O’Reilly. Supplies will be provided (including a bottle of wine. Participants will be invited to a live Zoom meeting for the class. Participants of all ages are welcome to join the class, but you must be 21+ to receive wine. Pick up supplies from Overlook Park 4:30 to 6 p.m. March 3.
