Gladys Knight performs at ilani

The legendary Gladys Knight will perform on ilani’s Cowlitz Ballroom stage at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 12. Tickets are $49 or $69, available at ilaniresort.com or Ticketmaster.com.

Known as the “Empress of Soul,” Knight has a musical catalog that spans 35 albums and multiple genres. She is well known for her role as the lead vocalist in the legendary soul group Gladys Knight & The Pips. She achieved monumental success with The Pips, including multiple Top 10 gold-certified singles, such as “I Heard it Through the Grapevine” and “Midnight Train to Georgia.” The group as a whole was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Knight and The Pips were also presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame. Knight has her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and she took her talents to the dance floor as a member of the season 14 cast of “Dancing with the Stars.”
