Graphic novelist Gina Siciliano will present two talks at WSU Vancouver, 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave. in Vancouver, on Feb. 5. The talks begin at 12:05 and 1:30 p.m. in Dengerink Administration Building, Room 129 on campus. Both are free and open to the public. Siciliano, a 2003 graduate of the Vancouver School for Arts and Academics, is the author of an award-winning book, “I Know What I Am: The Life and Times of Artemisia Gentileschi.” Gentileschi was an important woman artist in Italy’s Baroque era. In the first lecture, Siciliano will describe her seven-year journey of creating the illustrated biography and will explain how comics are the perfect medium for presenting educational nonfiction narratives and complex historical discourse. In the second, she will discuss Gentileschi’s most important paintings along with insights from her biography. Find a campus map at vancouver.wsu.edu/map.
