Introduction to Oil Painting

Vancouver Art Space, located inside Vancouver Mall at 8700 N.E. Vancouver Mall Drive, Suite 283, is offering a four-week Introduction to Oils course taught by artist and Vancouver Art Space owner Barbara Sheehan. Classes are 7 to 9 p.m. Thursdays from July 11 to Aug. 1. Students will learn the basics of working with oil paint, mediums, solvents, and common tools; approaches to layering and producing a “structurally sound” painting; common oil painting pigments and techniques; and how to finish a painting. The class is designed for beginning and intermediate artists and is best suited for ages 18 and older. All supplies will be provided, though students may also bring their own.
