Jemila Hart, Jacob Heiny and G. Scott Rafite featured through November in Esther Building Art Space
November 8 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 8:00am on Friday, repeating until November 22, 2019
The fall 2019 exhibition in the Esther Building Art Space, 610 Esther St., Vancouver, features works by Jemila Hart, Jacob Heiny, and G. Scott Rafite
On the first floor of the Esther building are a selection of pieces from G.Scott Rafite’s series, “Irrational Patterns.” Rafite’s patterns are beautiful mixed media lines and shapes on French paper. The artwork is meant to bring comfort to the viewer. Rafite has an MFA from Parsons New School for Design in New York. He has shown his work internationally.
The second floor exhibition features Jemila Hart and Jacob Heiny. Hart creates scenes of rocks, water, and sky using monoprint techniques; her images capture the movement and mood of a space with loose lines. Jacob Heiny’s uncanny photographs play with perception, framing images so that it makes the viewer wonder what they are really seeing.
Hart is a local artist working in print. Her work has been shown at Flight 64, Bite Studio, and the Ford gallery. She is a member of the artist collective Under Pressure. Hart is involved in social justice initiatives and the proceeds from her print, “Sleeping Rough” (included in this show) will go to p:ear, an organization that provides support for homeless teens.
Heiny received a BFA in photography and an MA in critical theory and creative research from the Pacific Northwest College of Art. He has shown work at Black Box Gallery and PLACE Gallery.
The Esther Building Art Space is open to the public, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information about this exhibit, contact Erin Dengerink at email@example.com or 360-566-7808.
