Journey Theater presents “The Music Man,” showing Aug. 2 to Aug. 10 at the Joyce Garver Theater, 1500 N.E. Garfield St., Camas. By turns wicked, funny, warm, romantic and touching, The Music Man is Meredith Willson’s six-time, Tony Award-winning musical comedy. The story follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band that he vows to organize – this, despite the fact that he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain’s fall. Performances are 7 p.m. Aug. 2, 3 and 9. Matinee shows are 2 p.m. Aug. 3 and 10. Tickets are $26 for adults or $22 for children and seniors. All tickets are $2 more at the door. Buy tickets at journeytheater.org.
