Juneteenth Freedom Celebration

Enjoy a free event to celebrate Juneteenth with art, multicultural music, food trucks, local vendors and games from 1 to 7 p.m. June 17 in Esther Short Park in downtown Vancouver. Juneteenth is a federal holiday that marks when American soldiers, by order of President Lincoln, went to Texas to free the last African American slaves in June of 1865. It signifies America fulfilling its commitment to liberty. Learn more at www.juneteenthfreedomcelebration.com.

Volunteers are needed and will be provided with a t-shirt and snacks. Sign up at www.juneteenthfreedomcelebration.com/volunteers. Spaces are also available for vendors and civic organizations; visit www.juneteenthfreedomcelebration.com/vendor-and-food-truck-application.

This free-to-the-public inaugural event is organized by Odyssey World International Education Services, with support from the City of Vancouver and the Vancouver Parks and Recreation. In particular, the 2022 festival will celebrate freedom to have creative expression, to achieve financial stability, to access healthcare, to acquire an education, to be civically engaged, to appreciate our heritages and to make a fresh start.
