The Young Ladies group of the Clark County Amateur Radio Club, Inc., will be offering a free on-line course to prepare women for the Federal Communications Commission Technician licensing exam. The course will consist of six sessions, over two weeks in October. The sessions will be online using ZOOM. The first three online sessions of the course will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 8 and 9, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 10. The second week, online sessions will be held 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 15 and Oct. 16. The final Saturday session be held in person, from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 17 at the Salmon Creek American Legion, 14011 N.E. 20th Ave., Vancouver, and will include a review and the FCC Technician exam. Masks are required, social distancing and area sanitation will be observed. The CCARC’s YL group are women amateur radio operators that promote the amateur radio arts to women of all ages through education and fellowship. The course is free. There will be a $15 testing fee for the FCC exam. It is recommended that students purchase the ARRL Ham Radio License Manual, Level 1, Technician, 4th ed. The study guide may be purchased for under $30 from the instructor or from online sources like Amazon.com and the ARRL.org website.
