Hook and Needle, 621 Broadway St., Vancouver, is offering a beginner-friendly “Learn to Tunisian Crochet” class from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 7. Becka Denning of Radiant Beans will lead the class in learning about Tunisian crochet (aka Afghan crochet), a combination of knitting and crocheting. It’s great for making blankets, scarves and shawls because the weave is thicker and more structured than regular crochet. Students will learn how to make a chain, Tunisian simple stitch, forward and return pass and fasten off. Students should bring a Tunisian crochet hook in the size appropriate for their chosen yarn. Students get a 15% discount on materials purchased at the fiber shop. Learn more and register at hookandneedlewa.com. The cost is $45.
