Meet the Pacific Garbage Patch Babies: An Earth Day Fundraiser

April 25 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

$10

Pacific Garbage Patch Babies, quirky sculptures designed to raise awareness of what we consume and how our actions impact waterways, will be at Dandelion Teahouse and Apothecary, 109 W. Seventh Street, Vancouver, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 25. Watershed Alliance of Southwest Washington volunteer Al Spector let hundreds of bread bags, cereal box liners, empty cheese packets and pieces of Styrofoam pile up in his home and transformed them into three-dimensional art. Spector will discuss his one-year sculpture making experiment, share ocean facts, and help attendees create their own mini-Garbage Patch Babies to take home. Tickets are $10 to help cover the cost of materials. A Spanish translator will be on-site to offer bilingual assistance. Spector’s original Garbage Patch Babies will be available for adoption, complete with a certificate. The event is suited for people age 12 and over. Register at secure.lglforms.com/form_engine/s/JiUTiLdfQMxqplx0ggzOtg. For more details, email micayla@thewatershedalliance.org.
