Join the WSU Extension Clark County Master Gardener program for an on-the-road garden tour to Hood River, 8:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 26. The first stop is OSU Extension Hood River County, where the Master Gardener Coordinator will discuss microclimates. The location provides a view of several areas around Hood River showing the impact of planting decisions made based on microclimate. The next stop is Good News Gardening, where the owner will talk about efforts to help people make informed choices about plants for specific locations. Lunch is at Bette’s Place (purchased separately). The last stop is Packer Orchards and Farm Place, a family-owned orchard and bakery, where participants will learn how their operation deals with Hood River microclimates. Before departing, tour-takers can buy fresh fruits and bakery goods. The tour is $35. Vans will prepare for departure from Enterprise Rent-a-Car in Hazel Dell at 8:15 a.m. and arrive back there at 5 p.m. Register by emailing erika.d.johnson@wsu.edu or calling 564-397-5738.
