Join the WSU Extension Clark County Master Gardener program for an “On the Road” tour from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 22, featuring plants for the late summer and fall garden. The first stop is Al’s Garden Center in Woodburn, which specializes in mountain laurel, a North American shrub with bee-shaped flowers. The next stop is Garden World in Hubbard, with ten acres of plants and trees, especially Japanese maples. Lunch (not included in the price of the tour) is at the Backstop Bar & Grill in Canby. The last stop is Swan Island Dahlias with almost forty acres of dahlias featuring over 370 varieties plus food carts, live music, and a gift shop through which to stroll. Vans depart from Enterprise Rent-a-Car in Hazel Dell. The cost is $35.
