Picnic in Color arts and crafts event in downtown Camas

Show off your creative side at the annual Picnic in Color in downtown Camas, hosted by the Downtown Camas Association. This family-friendly, art-focused event is slated for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 24, during Camas Days. The event will feature a puppet show by the Portland based Pegasus Puppet Theater, creative art projects, clay sculpting and food vendors. Everything is free.

Check in at the booth on the corner of Fourth Avenue and Cedar Street, near the fountain. New projects and activities include wish boxes, which attendees can decorate with the help of The Artisan’s Guild of Camas. Kids can create clay masterpiece with artist Jen Hanson of Maker. Art and Play. Try a hands-on tie dye project hosted by Heather Fresh from UPWARD Camas with shirts donated by Craft Warehouse. Children can also create paper art to add to a larger, collaborative art piece, to be displayed in the Camas Library through the end of August. Local artist Peter O’Brien will be drawing caricatures. Kids of all ages can stop by The Wild Hair booth for some colorful hair flare. Festive music will be provided by DJ Linus.

The Rotary Club of Camas Washougal will host a Ducky Derby Kid Races featuring a working flume that will allow rubber ducks to race to bottom. Children can decorate their own ducks. The Rotarians will be on hand to sell raffle tickets for the annual Ducky Derby; visit the CW Rotary Facebook page for details.
