Port of Vancouver Offers Virtual “Tour”
May 27 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 8:00am on Thursday, repeating until June 24, 2021
When the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of group events, this also meant the cancellation of the Port of Vancouver USA’s popular public tours. To continue to offer a look inside the port, a new online presentation is available, taking the audience through an overview of the port and its operations. A link to the presentation can be found here.
The 45-minute virtual presentation features slides that illustrate the port’s history, provide information about its governance, explain the port’s diverse cargo mix and its trading partners, as well as provide viewers a peek inside at some of the port’s industrial operations. Two videos are also included in the presentation that showcase the port’s economic impact and its environmental programs. The presentation is narrated by port staff.
Usually in the spring and summer, the port offers 10 free public tours that feature a live overview followed by a bus tour through the port’s marine terminals. In 2020 the COVID-19 pandemic suspended these in-person tours. It is hoped that tours can resume this fall depending on guidelines from Washington State Governor Jay Inslee.
