Portland Center Stage presents “Young Americans”

Portland Center Stage presents the premiere of “Young Americans,” a new play by Lauren Yee, playing from Feb. 11 to March 26 in the Ellen Bye Studio, 128 N.W. 11th Ave., Portland. The play takes audiences on two road trips, 20 years apart. In one, an exhaustingly upbeat father and his stressed-out, college-bound daughter depart on a trip across the country. Their journey mirrors another trip the father took decades earlier with her mother — as near strangers, full of fresh hopes and dreams, on their way to a new life together. This intimate, music-led comedy veers back and forth in time, offering a fresh look at an American road trip through the lens of the immigrant experience.
