Portland Japanese Garden presents “Subtle Intimacy: Here and There” exhibit of glassworks

May 20, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

$13.95 – $19.95

Portland Japanese Garden‘s first art exhibition of 2023, “Subtle Intimacy: Here and There,” features the work of Japan Institute’s Artist-in-Residence, Rui Sasaki. Hailed as a “glass virtuoso” by The New York Times, Sasaki traveled from her native Japan to collect plant life from Portland Japanese Garden to create a site-specific experience: Transparent impressions of the garden’s foliage preserved in panes of clear glass. The glass panels, available to view in the garden’s pavilion inside the garden at 611 S.W. Kingston Ave., Portland, are composed of plants both from Portland and Sasaki’s neighborhood in Kanazawa, Japan. The exhibit runs through June 12 and is included in admission. Summer hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Mondays. The garden is closed on Tuesdays. Tickets can be purchased at tickets.japanesegarden.org. Tickets are $19.95 for adults, $16.95 for seniors, $15.95 for students, $13.95 for youth and free for children 5 and under.
