Public Safety Ballot Tax Public Hearing

May 3 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

The Clark County Council will hold a public hearing to discuss a resolution that would place a public safety tax on the August 2 primary ballot.

The hearing will be 10 am Tuesday, May 3. Council meetings are being held in a hybrid format with both in-person and online attendance as options. Council meetings are held in the sixth-floor hearing room in the Public Service Center at 1300 Franklin St. Instructions for joining the meeting online are on the county’s website at clark.wa.gov/meetings

CVTV airs county public hearings live on channel 23/323 and online at www.cvtv.org.

The council will receive public testimony during the public hearing. Comments may be sent prior to the meeting via the county website at clark.wa.gov/councilors

At their council time meeting on April 27, councilors agreed to schedule the hearing on the resolution that would authorize a sales and use tax of one-tenth of 1% to fund law and justice expenses, including but not limited to body worn cameras, staffing for the Sheriff’s Office, and other expenses.

If approved by voters, the county would receive 60% of the tax collected and the incorporated cities would receive 40%.
