Saturday Birding Hikes

The Friends of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge offers Saturday Birding Hikes on select days from now through May. Walks start at 8 a.m. at the Carty Unit of the Refuge. Registration is required by sending an email to ridgefieldvolunteer@fws.gov. While walks generally last two to three hours, participants are welcome to stay or leave as they choose. Walks are free but the $3 refuge fee applies. Ron Escano will lead birding hikes on Jan. 6, Feb. 3, March 2, April 6 and May 4. Robert Vanderkamp will lead birding hikes on Jan. 13, Feb. 10 and March 9.
