Science on Tap: Weather Forecasting in the Pacific Northwest

May 6 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$15 – $45

The next Science on Tap at the Kiggins Theatre is 7 p.m. May 6. “Bomb Cyclones to Renewable Energy: Weather Forecasting in the Pacific Northwest” will explore why weather apps often fail in the Northwest, what makes weather in this region so difficult to forecast and why these difficulties manifest themselves in wind and solar power. Mark Ingalls, a Vancouver, B.C.-based meteorologist forecasting in the energy sector focused on the Northeast U.S., will discuss why lack of data and mountainous terrain leave much to be desired in weather apps and why it’s so hard to interpret what a human forecaster is trying to say. Tickets are $15 to $45 at kigginstheatre.com/movie/science-on-tap-bomb-cyclones-to-renewable-energy.
