Screening of “Free Outside: Chasing the Colorado Trail Record”

See “Free Outside: Chasing the Colorado Trail Record” at 7 p.m. Jan. 13 at McMenamins Mission Theater and Pub, 1624 N.W. Glisan St., Portland. This movie documents mountain athlete’s Jeff Garmires attempt to break the unsupported hike of the 490 mile Colorado Trail record. The goal was to average 50 miles a day, starting in Durango and ending in Denver. Garmire’s “Calendar Year Triple Crown” was covered by The Columbian newspaper in 2016, when Garmires hiked the three iconic national scenic trails, including the Appalachian Trial, Pacific Crest Trail and Continental Divide Trail in a single calendar year, in all totaling nearly 8,000 miles. This movie captures the beauty of the Colorado Trail and the mental and physical challenges of finding your limits.

Admission is free but attendees should plan to buy food and beverages.
