The Second Story Gallery (upstairs in the Camas Public Library at 625 N.E. Fourth Ave., Camas) will feature “Silesian Stories: Sister City Stories and Art” from Lloyd and Ulrike Halverson during the month of October. An opening reception will take place at the Gallery from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 7, during downtown Camas’ First Friday celebration.
The exhibit will highlight Ulrike Halverson’s watercolors inspired by, and keepsakes from, her and husband Lloyd Halverson’s many trips to Camas’ sister cities in Poland, which include Krapkowice, Morawica and Zabierzow.
In addition to the gallery event, the library will also host a special author event at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 12 in the gallery to mark the launch of Lloyd Halverson’s book, “Silesian Stories: Tales of Resilience, History and Connection with America.”
During the author event, Halverson will speak to themes in his book and will share experiences from the couples’ visit with Ukrainian refugees during their most recent trip to Poland. The event will also feature a question-and-answer session.
Both events are free and open to the public.
