Shibori is a Japanese dyeing technique that involves folding, bunching or bundling fabric, binding it and dyeing it with indigo dye. The results are patterned blue lines that are both geometric and organic. In this workshop, students will create their own patterns and designs using a variety of tools and techniques. Two workshops will be held in Kindred Homestead Supply’s outdoor courtyard, 606 Main St., Vancouver. Two tea towels will be provided or attendees can bring one or two items of their own, but nothing larger than a t-shirt. The material must be 100% cotton, canvas or other natural material because synthetic materials will not dye properly. Workshops will be offered from noon to 2 p.m. or 3 to 5 p.m. May 5, 12, 19 and 26. The cost is $45. Register at kindredhomesteadsupply.com/products/shibori-dyeing-workshop.
