Suminagashi (Marbling on Paper) Class at Art Zone

Art Zone will offer a suminagashi (or the Japanese art of paper-marbling) class from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 16 at 6929 N.W. Friberg-Strunk St., Camas. Instructor Carolyn Macpherson will teach attendees the art of suminagashi, or “floating ink” — the process of marbling plain paper with water and richly pigmented ink to transform it into beautiful, vibrant and colorful decorative paper. Students will be working with permanent inks they should wear clothing appropriate for this messy process. Art Zone does supply some aprons. The class cost is $75.
