“The Forgotten Veterans of Brush Prairie Cemetery”

February 25 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Free

The Clark County Genealogical Society will host its monthly society meeting at 3205 N.E. 52nd St. from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 25.
This meeting will include a presentation on “The Forgotten Veterans of Brush Prairie Cemetery”
Peri Muhich will share the remarkable efforts of the Fort Vancouver Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) to honor veterans buried at Brush Prairie Cemetery. The chapter adopted the cemetery, placing flags on veterans’ graves for Memorial Day and Veterans Day and cleaning their headstones. During this work, they identified 11 veterans with temporary markers or no headstones. With the leadership of Ruth Morgan, chair of the Veterans Flag Committee, and collaboration with DAR members, American Veterans Post 16, and the Department of Veterans Affairs, the chapter has placed 10 new headstones since November 2023.
