Veterans and Service Dog Graduation Ceremony

Northwest Battle Buddies will host a Veterans and Service Dog Graduation Ceremony at 1 p.m. March 28 at Royal Oaks Country Club, 8917 N.E. Fourth Plain Blvd, Vancouver. Lunch will be served before the ceremony. A veteran team comprises a professionally trained service dog and a veteran recipient. Certification is granted after both complete training requirements. These service dogs undergo 360 hours of service training. Certification involves 70 hours of training with certified professionals. The dogs enable veterans, often isolated due to PTSD, to engage in daily activities. Dogs are trained to interrupt anxiety attacks and provide a sense of safety.
