The city of Vancouver will host a Winter Solstice Walk from 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 21, beginning at the Water Resources Education Center, 4600 S.E. Columbia Way, Vancouver. Winter solstice in the northern hemisphere marks the shortest day of the year. Each day after the winter solstice grows longer and gains light. Walk along the banks of the Columbia River to celebrate the return of light. Plan to walk two miles on uneven trails, sandy and muddy pathways and beaches and some paved surfaces.
