Columbia Springs' next Stewardship Saturday is from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 4. Sign up here to help with removing invasive species, trail maintenance, and other park improvement projects. Columbia Springs will provide snacks, tools, gloves, training, and guidance. Volunteers are asked to bring a water bottle, wear closed-toe shoes, and dress in outdoor/work-appropriate clothing. Children must be 7 years or older to volunteer.

Join lecturers Grace Teigen and Gene Wigglesworth at Columbia Springs for a four-part series on climate change, the environment and what you can do. Participants will learn the basics about how our planet works, its normal cycles and the effects humans have had. Classes will incorporate lecture, multi-media and group discussion elements. Kids ages 5 to 14 are eligible to fish with an expert fishing mentor from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 11. Registration is required. Tickets are $7 per person in advance. Help ensure the survival of young trees in Vancouver this summer by becoming a volunteer Summer Inspector with Friends of Trees. Summer Inspectors are given a neighborhood-based route of approximately 20-25 recently planted trees to visit twice over the course of the summer. No experience is needed.
