Healing the Wimahl (Columbia) River

August 31 @ 9:00 am - 3:30 pm

free

The Watershed Alliance of Southwest Washington will host a Day of Healing the Wimahl (Columbia River) from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 31 on Cottonwood Beach at Captain William Clark Park, 3333 Index St., Washougal. The day begins with a volunteer beach cleanup from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch (bring your own). From noon to 1:30 p.m., join a free workshop to make flower offerings and trash art, which will be displayed at La Casita Art Gallery and Cultural Center. From 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Huehca Omeyocan will perform an Aztec Dance and Drumming Ceremony with an offering of flowers to the river. This style of dance and music is of the Cem-Anahuac, meaning the land surrounded by water where people live entirely together. Register for the beach clean-up at secure.lglforms.com/form_engine/s/hEJpwTbKpWnb_TK8PNyXZw?. There is no charge or registration needed for the workshop or performance.
