The Southwest Washington Wind Symphony presents the “Celebrations” from 3 to 4 p.m. Oct. 20 at Union High School’s Performing Arts Center, 6201 N.W. Friberg-Strunk St. The concert will be conducted by Patrick Murphy, director of bands at the University of Portland, and Chris Sigman, music educator in the Evergreen School District. The performance kicks off a season-long celebration of the wind symphony’s 20th anniversary. Selections include “Olympic Fanfare and Theme” by John Williams, “Americans We” by Henry Filmore, “Sanctuary” by Frank Ticheli and “Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral” by Richard Wagner. Wind symphony volunteers will host a fundraising raffle of an original fine art painting by contemporary artist Keith Lindberg. Admission is free.
