Clark College’s Sakura Festival is 1 to 5 p.m. April 17. The event includes a 1 p.m. ceremony in the Japanese Garden (weather permitting, otherwise the ceremony will be in the Gaiser Student Center). The ceremony include a koto and flute performance, speeches by dignitaries and the Clark College Treble Ensemble, followed by a 2 p.m. butterfly release at the Andersen Fountain. Also see displays in the Gaiser Student Center including a tea ceremony, ikebana, Japanese club and kendo club. Enjoy cookies and tea and further performances at 2:45 p.m. featuring traditional Japanese dance, art and Takohachi drum group. The event is free and open to the public.
