Tour Europe with the Vancouver Community Concert and Jazz Bands at 2 p.m. April 26 in the Fort Vancouver High School Auditorium. The program includes the premiere of “Flying” composed by Amy Dunker in honor of Leah Hing, the first U.S.-born Chinese American woman to earn a pilot’s license (at Pearson Airfield); “Funiculi, Funicula” written in 1880 to celebrate the first funicular railway on Mount Vesuvius; “Amperito Roca” a Spanish march played at bullfights; “Radesky March” by Johann Strauss to celebrate the victory of Austria over Italy at the Battle of Custoza; and Holst’s “Second Suite for Military Band in F Major” based on English folk songs. The 65-piece concert band is an all-volunteer group led by Erin Hanson. The new Jazz Band is directed by Neil Huss. Admission is free.
