
As part of Clark College’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration, Bettina L. Love, author of the bestselling “Punished for Dreaming: How School Reform Harms Black Children and How We Heal” will offer a keynote speech, “We Gon’ Be Alright, But That Ain’t Alright: Abolitionist Teaching and the Pursuit of Educational Freedom,” from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Jan. 23 in the Gaiser Student Center on Clark College’s man campus at 1933 Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver. Love will discuss how to move beyond what she calls the “educational survival complex.” Admission is free. A discussion about “Punished for Dreaming” will meet the previous day, Jan. 22, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in Penguin Union Building 161.
