Eight teen rock, pop, punk, alternative, indie-folk, hip hop and country bands will perform at Clark County Battle of the Bands from 5:30-8:30 p.m. May 31 at the Columbia Tech Center Amphitheater, 825 S.E. Tech Center Drive in east Vancouver. Bands will vie for first-, second- and third-place prizes worth $2,500, including a gift card to Music World, recording sessions at local music studios and music scholarships. Students attend Camas, Ridgefield, Skyview, Seton, Battle Ground, Oregon City and Prairie high schools. Bands will perform three songs each in 15-minute sets, including at least one original composition. The show is free and open to the public with outdoor seating on blankets and low-backed chairs. Food trucks will be available on site.
