The all-women choral group In Mulieribus presents “A Rose in Midwinter” on two nights at two Portland venues: 7 p.m. Dec. 20 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 1716 N.W. Davis St., Portland, and 7 p.m. Dec. 21 at St. Philip Neri Church, 2408 S.E. 16th Ave., Portland.
Medieval carols and contemporary songs for the holidays will explore ancient meditations on the rose in midwinter — its beauty, symbolism and metaphors. The program features works spanning from the 13th to the 21st centuries, including music by Perotin, Nicola LeFanu, local composer John Vergin and Ivan Moody’s “Cum natus esset Iesus,” a piece he wrote for In Mulieribus in 2013.
Individual tickets, general and premium seating, are $30 to $40. Student tickets are $15. Arts for All tickets are $5.
