The city of Vancouver and Odyssey World International Education Services will host a Juneteenth celebration from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 15 at Esther Short Park in downtown Vancouver. Juneteenth is a federal holiday to celebrate the liberation of the last African American slaves in Texas by American soldiers in June of 1865. It signifies a time when America fulfilled its commitment to liberty for all its citizens.
