Metropolitan Youth Symphony performs at The Old Madeleine

Metropolitan Youth Symphony will perform at 4 p.m. Nov. 6 at The Old Church at the Madeleine Parish, 3240 N.E. 23rd Ave., Portland. The concert will begin with a quartet from Grammy-nominated, Boston-based, self-conducted orchestra A Far Cry with Jessica Montgomery’s “Strum” and Osvaldo Golijov’s “Tenebrae.” The orchestra will then join the MYSfits ensemble for Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Brandenburg Concerto No.3,” Caroline Shaw’s “Entr’acte,” and “Shine You No More” by Rune Tonsgaard Sørensen and the Danish String Quartet. The Metropolitan Youth Symphony Jazz Ensemble, led by new director and local jazz legend Christopher Brown, will finish the evening with Miles Davis’ “So What,” “Freddie the Freeloader” and “All Blues.” Learn more at playmys.org.
