Mexican-American Civil Rights Movement: Origins of LULAC

Latino Leadership Northwest will host a free presentation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. May 30 about the origins of LULAC and the Mexican-American Civil Rights Movement with author and historian Cynthia Orozso. She will delve into the history of League of United Latin American Citizens and the Mexican American civil rights movements. Afro-Latina Born to Mexican immigrants in Cuero, Texas, Orozco is the author of “Pioneer of Mexican-American Civil Rights: Alonso S. Perales,” “No Mexicans, Women or Dogs Allowed: The Rise of the Mexican American Civil Rights Movement,” and “Agent of Change.” Snacks and beverages will be provided.
