Music World hosts instrument string recycling event

Music World, located in Hazel Dell Marketplace at 612 N.E. 81st St., Suite B, is hosting an instrument string recycling event from 10 to 6 p.m. April 25. Musicians can bring any old instrument strings for recycling and get their electric or acoustic guitars restrung with D’Addario NYXL or Nickel Bronze Acoustic strings. Old strings collected during the event will be recycled through Playback, D’Addario’s free recycling program which has recycled nearly 13 million strings since 2016. The metal strings are smelted into new alloys, while the nylon strings are recycled for industrial plastic applications. The recycling program reduces the estimated 1.5 million pounds of instrument string metal deposited in landfills every year.
