Ridgefield Multicultural Festival

The Ridgefield Multicultural Festival is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 7 in downtown Ridgefield. It’s free and open to all ages. This year’s theme is “Food and Fashion” with food trucks selling a variety of cuisines, artisan and farmers market vendors, a scavenger hunt, kids’ activities and information booths. Nii Ardey Allotey, a Ghanaian master dancer and drummer, will lead African drum and dance classes. The festival includes a fashion show featuring the designs of Ruby N. Lewis, a fashion designer, multimedia specialist and chairwoman of the nonprofit organization, Please Don’t Die Black Men. The show will be accompanied by DJ Ashlie McDonald of Sol Source Media and emceed by Lavinda Lyfe of Tacoma. The show will include Lewis’s designs as well as cultural fashions from the community. This festival’s entertainment includes Melao de Cuba Orchestra, Nii Ardey Allotey and Ekome, Vancouver Ballet Folklorico, Red Rubies, Master Oh’s Taekwondo and Anavai O Te Ora. Guests can also visit a pop-up cultural fashion musem from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Allene Wodaege Community Room at the Ridgefield Community Library.
