The Ridgefield Community Group and Indivisible Greater Vancouver are hosting the free, family -friendly Community Unity Picnic from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 21 at Bennett Hall in Abrams Park, 400 Abrams Park Road, Ridgefield. (The park is located at the end of Division Street off North Fifth Avenue near Union Ridge Elementary School.) The picnic shelter and benches at Bennett Hall are reserved for this event and the park is available to everyone, featuring two playgrounds, a disc golf course, a horseshoe pit, sports fields and Gee Creek.
The picnic is an opportunity for making and renewing healthy community connections. There will be no formal agenda and no political speeches, but local candidates are encouraged to attend. Free vegan and regular hotdogs and water will be available while supplies last. Attendees are also welcome to bring food to share that doesn’t need refrigeration or cooking, though food is not required to attend.
