
The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra‘s Nien-Wei Hsiao Chamber Music Series opens with the Piano Extravaganza, 3-5 p.m. Oct. 19 at First Presbyterian Church in Vancouver. The concert features Vancouver pianist and music teacher, Kathy Charles; the 2010 VSO Young Artist Competition piano category winner, Fred Lu; and the Nien-Wei Hsiao Chamber Music Series co-founder, Dr. Michael C. Liu. The program includes Rachmaninoff’s Suites No. 1 and 2 and Gershwin’s “Porgy and Bess” and “An American in Paris.” Admission is $30 or $15 for students. Buy tickets at vancouversymphony.org.
